Good Ol’ Fashioned Country Comedy
There’s feudin’, fussin’ and a whole lot of good ol’fashioned fun goin’ on as those back woods rascals, Barney Google and Snuffy Smith, rustle up a rib-ticklin’ tub of mountain mirth. An’ we’re talkin’ a BIG tub: 50 cartoons – 10 half hours of lap-slappin’ laughs – That’s enough to keep the kids a-gigglin’ till the cows come home. Barney and Snuffy are joined by the craziest collection of cantankerous characters ever to come out of them thar’ hills, including Laweezy, Jughaid and Jerky Jockey.
It’s been more than 75 years since the world first met the lais-back citizens of Hootin’Holler. Created by cartoonist Billy DeBeck back in 1919 and taken over by his assistant Fred Lasswell in 1942, “Barney Google and Snuffy Smith” is one of the world’s longest running comic strips. It has appeared 365 days a year for more than 75 years without interruption, now appearing in 900 newspapers in 21 countries. Lasswell believes folks love his cartoons so much because of their “good, clean humor”.
Now a whole generation can whoop it up at the antics of Snuffy, Barney, Jughaid and the rest. They’ll provide hours of down-home country comedy.
