Trilogy: Beetle Bailey
Genre Animation
Format 13 half-hour episodes (or 50 x 5,5 minutes)
For more than 45 years, the laziest private in the Army has won the daily attention of millions of faithful readers – and kept them in stitches. Beetle Bailey, the private who’d rather drop and nap than drop and “do 20”, is the wise-cracking joker of the most famous army camp in comics – Camp Swampy, where befuddled General Halftrack still hasn’t heard from the Pentagon, grumbling Sgt. Snorkle has never had a date, Beetle hasn’t washed his socks, and Cookie the cook still makes those high-bouncing meatballs. And now everyone’s favourite reluctant recruit can be enjoyed in 50 uniformly funny 6-minute animated cartoons.
Beetle Bailey is the creation of Mort Walker, the most prolific and widely syndicated cartoonist in history. Beetle made his comic strip debut in a mere 50 newspapers as a college cutup in 1950. But with America’s entry into the Korean conflict, Walker’s star character enlisted in the Army – by mistake! Since then, Walker has won numerous achievement awards for his inventive, hilarious, endearing comics, and today Beetle Bailey is read in more than 1,900 newspapers around the world. Join Beetle Bailey and his army buddies and sound off with laughter.
